CATTARAUGUS — Leonard A. Stephens, 82, of Cattaraugus, passed away Thursday (May 11, 2017) at WCA Hospital in Jamestown. He was born May 23, 1934, in Barberton, Ohio, the son of the late Walter and Gladys (LaBo) Stephens. On June 19, 1953, he married the former Emma Jean Huber, who survives. Mr. Stephens graduated from Pine Valley High School. He was employed at Moench Tanning Co. in Gowanda for 42 years. He was a member of NRA and AARP. He enjoyed hunting, camping, holidays with family and tinkering on vehicles. Besides his loving wife of 63 years, he is survived by a son, Kevin (Sandi) Stephens of Cattaraugus; two daughters, Jeanne Case of Sinclairville and Debra (Joe) Kaye of Cattaraugus; a grandchild, Erin Bender of Florida; two great-grandchildren, Brilee and Madelyn; a brother, Willis Stephens of New Albion; two sisters, Carol Brain of Randolph and Lois Bogardus of New Albion; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sisters, Martha Steward and Phyllis Herzog; and a son-in-law, Jim Case. Private family services will be held. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice. Arrangements are under the direction of Mentley Funeral Home Inc., 411 Rock City St., Little Valley.
